Flag half staff

On *Monday [ [link removed] ]*, in honor of the life and service of Carroll County Sheriff Dale Williams, Governor Mike DeWine ordered that flags of the United States and the State of Ohio be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout Carroll County. Flags remained lowered until sunset on the day of his funeral.

Lastly on *Monday*,?Lt. Governor Jon Husted traveled to Wooster to tour Schaeffler Transmission Systems and participate in a roundtable discussion to learn more about their apprenticeship program.

On *Tuesday [ [link removed] ]*,?Governor DeWine announced that support is now available for non-profits and governmental agencies to establish or enhance community-based interventions to prevent violence and connect crime victims to recovery services.?

A total of $20 million in grant funding is now available as part of Governor DeWine's new Community Violence Prevention Grant Program, which is administered by the Ohio Department of Public Safety?s Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS). The grant program is aimed at supporting community-based nonprofits, law enforcement agencies, and state and local government entities that have implemented or would like to implement collaborative approaches toward reducing community violence.

"There are many great collaborations all over the state that are working to help victims of violent crime and prevent future violence," said Governor DeWine. "The goal of this new grant program is to help these entities enhance their work and make an even bigger impact."?

Also on?*Tuesday,?*Lt. Governor Husted traveled to Cincinnati to tour the Scarlet Oaks branch of Great Oaks Career Campuses to highlight the importance of career and technical education in Ohio.

First Lady med. center

Lastly on *Tuesday*,?First Lady Fran DeWine traveled to thank staff members of the Adena? Regional Medical Center and?Southern Ohio Medical Center for enrolling newborns in Dolly Parton?s Imagination Library of Ohio. After meeting with the staff at their respective medical centers, she hosted a book reading?in Ross County.

On *Wednesday [ [link removed] ]*,?Governor DeWine and Ohio EPA Director Laurie A. Stevenson announced that $2.5 million in H2Ohio grants will go to four local communities to help improve drinking water quality and to repair or replace aging water and wastewater infrastructure.

?Investing in water resources ensures that our communities have modern infrastructure that provides for safe and affordable drinking water,? said Governor DeWine. ?We?re excited to contribute toward improving water service and quality of life in the areas of the state where H2Ohio?s help is needed the most.?

Starting in?May 2023, Aer Lingus will offer travelers nonstop service from Cleveland to Dublin, Ireland.

On *Friday [ [link removed] ]*,?Governor DeWine announced he is enhancing his Bold Beginning Initiative [ [link removed] ] to remove barriers to health care, ease financial burdens, and support parents.

?I have a vision for Ohio to be the best place in the nation to have a baby and raise a family,? said Governor DeWine. ?As a father of eight and grandfather of 26, I know that each pregnancy is different, and each family is unique. With Bold Beginnings: Healthy, Supported Families [ [link removed] ], Ohio will provide even more options and supports that can be tailored to each family?s needs, while providing assistance to mothers most at-risk for poor outcomes, to help them as they begin or add to their family. The research is clear, ensuring babies and their parents are safe and supported during pregnancy and the early years helps children succeed later in life. Earlier this year, Governor DeWine signed House Bill 583, [ [link removed] ] sponsored by?Representatives Adam C. Bird and Don Jones, which officially designated October as Ohio School Safety Month.?

?This month is an opportunity for schools to increase public awareness of school safety programs and policies,"?said Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. "I encourage all Ohioans to work together to keep Ohio schools safe for students to learn and grow."
