We’re less than 40 days out from Election Day, and this election is about making a clear choice — are we going to continue building on our progress? Or are we going to allow right-wing extremists to corrupt the political process, resort to political violence, and take away our fundamental rights?
I’ve seen what that leads to. Just this week, Senator Josh Hawley (he’s most famous for raising a fist in solidarity with January 6th rioters) berated the FBI for arresting a right-wing extremist who assaulted a Planned Parenthood escort.
I’m the only member of the Senate who has actually worked at a Planned Parenthood. I know firsthand the kind of threats and violent attacks that volunteers, doctors, staff, and patients who need care have repeatedly faced from anti-abortion extremists who will deliberately break the law to impose their draconian values.
I saw it in 2009, when a man drove his SUV into the St. Paul Planned Parenthood clinic. While thankfully no one was hurt from his violence, extremists like him are emboldened by Senators like Josh Hawley who defend extremists’ actions in the halls of Congress.
Senator Hawley continues to stand on the wrong side of history. Simply put — we can’t let him and McConnell take back the majority in the Senate, john.
Here’s where things stand. In just a few hours, our team will submit our fundraising numbers to the FEC. This is the last end-of-quarter deadline before Election Day, and once our fundraising numbers go public, Republicans will know exactly how we are doing. That’s why it’s so important to knock this goal out of the park and show everyone watching — including Mitch McConnell and Josh Hawley — the strength of our grassroots team.
