Hi John, The global impact of COVID-19, conflict, extreme weather, and inequality over the past few years have created an economic crisis worldwide. While no one has been unaffected by these crises, the reality is: people living in the world’s poorest countries have been hit the hardest. In a few weeks, financial decision makers will meet in Washington, DC and decide whether they will commit to using the tools they have to free up the funds that will help put this fire out. That’s why ONE’s African Champions* have written a letter sharing why we can’t afford to wait any longer. John, will you stand in solidarity with them and add your name to their letter? We plan to share this letter with Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. Every signature counts, so add your name today!
Here’s an excerpt:
If we don’t act now, things will only get worse, especially for those in the most vulnerable countries and communities. Millions more will face dire food insecurity and even famine, job losses, and increased insecurity. Many people could be forced out of their homes. It’s time for governments and financial leaders to commit to using every tool they have to free the funds needed to get through this crisis. We intend to make it difficult for leaders to ignore our calls and will let you know how else you can help in the coming weeks.
