With a total of fourteen institutions, the state of Alabama has the largest number of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in the nation. In recognition of this unique importance, as well as the economic impact of these institutions within their respective communities and collectively in the state, I am proclaiming the month of October as HBCU Month! During this month, the Alabama Office of Minority Affairs’ will be putting these institutions and their talented students in the spotlight on social media.
