Save the Date: Annual Wenger Awards on May 1, 2023
The date has been set for WomenHeart’s 23rd Annual Wenger Awards. Mark your calendars for Monday, May 1st, 2023 when we will be back in Washington, DC honoring pioneers and innovators in women’s heart health. This will also be the first year where the Sharonne N. Hayes Award for Champion Excellence will be awarded to a WomenHeart Champion. We hope to see you all there. Nominations for Wenger awardees will open in the new year.

WomenHeart Welcomes Lyn Behnke to the Board of Directors
The WomenHeart board of directors ([link removed] recently voted to add Lyn Behnke, DNP to the board as Chair-Elect. She became a WomenHeart Champion in 2010 and has served a previous term on the board. She’s been in nursing her whole career, serving as a nurse practitioner for 32 years, and is Board certified in family practice and psyche mental health across the lifespan. She has experienced firsthand the challenges that many women with heart disease face, and it has served to intensify her passion for WomenHeart and its mission of advocacy, education, and support for women living with and at risk for heart disease.  
Help Grow the National Hospital Alliance
WomenHeart hosted an informational meeting in September for hospitals interested in learning more about the National Hospital Alliance ([link removed] (NHA). In addition to launching our new NHA logo, we shared the benefits of membership and talked about the importance of ensuring that women heart patients receive gender sensitive care while undergoing treatment for heart disease. If you are interested in learning more about the NHA, please let us know by emailing [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) and we can share a recording of the meeting. 
Webinar on Sleep and Heart Disease Coming Soon
WomenHeart will be hosting a HeartTalks webinar about the impact of sleep on heart health and how to manage sleep while living with heart disease. Sleep expert and clinical psychologist Dr. Michael Grandner and cardiologist Dr. Courtney Jordan Baechler, along with a WomenHeart Champion, will be joining us. The webinar will take place in October, more information and a link to register coming soon. 
Science & Leadership Symposium Starts October 7
We are just one week away from returning to the Mayo Clinic for our annual WomenHeart Science & Leadership Symposium where we will be welcoming a new class of WomenHeart Champions. Our 2022 class consists of nearly 30 women from 19 states who will be joining the Champion community in becoming educators, support network coordinators, and advocates. We are looking forward to meeting them in person and welcoming them to the WomenHeart family.
