My friend...

Here's a quick update on what I've been working on during a busy few weeks in Washington, DC, Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn...
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE HILL

Under one-party Democrat rule, inflation has hit record levels, millions of migrants are pouring over our southern border and cities across America are less safe. House Republicans have solutions, and we're ready to get to work on day one to get our country back on track. We've unveiled our Commitment to America - a set of priorities to strengthen our economy, secure the southern border, protect public safety, preserve freedom, and hold government accountable. I've joined Democrat Reps. Grace Meng and Jamaal Bowman in leading the New York City Congressional Delegation in a letter to the VA regarding the next steps to support our local VA hospitals. Ensuring our veterans have access to high-quality healthcare is not a partisan issue and we will not stop fighting until President Biden says the plan to close our VA hospitals is dead on arrival.

Under one-party rule at every level of government, we've seen crime skyrocket in cities across America. I joined House Republican leadership to highlight how soft-on-crime policies have impacted New York City and how legislation I've introduced, along with reversing New York's bail law, is part of the solution.

IN THE DISTRICT

Over the last several weeks, six Bay Ridge businesses have been broken into, with the burglars running off with $28,000 in stolen cash. I joined local business owners to demand that our state leadership reverses New York's disastrous bail law and takes the issue of crime and public safety seriously.

I joined my local colleagues in urging Governor Hochul to withdraw her support of the MTA's congestion tax that will cost drivers more than $5,000 per year to commute to work, go to school or get medical treatment. I proudly voted against this scheme as a state legislator, and now as a Member of Congress, we're making bipartisan efforts to slow or stop this from the federal level.

I was honored to receive two small business awards from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Business for my support of commonsense policies that support the American business community, foster innovation and create jobs.

As the daughter of small business owners, I know firsthand the challenges the business community faces. When so many people are struggling to afford groceries, gas, and basic necessities, Congress should be supporting small businesses, incentivizing work, and lowering taxes to put more money back into Americans' wallets. That's been a top priority of mine since being elected and I’m proud of my work standing up for mom-and-pop shops, innovators, and job creators.
