My Bill to Hold Government Accountable Passed
Friend,
While it has been a very challenging year in Washington, with far too little progress on many issues important to American families, this week, I have some good news to report. Earlier this week the House of Representatives passed my bill to strengthen U.S financial sanctions and provide increased transparency. This legislation will ensure the Executive Branch must inform Congress and the American people if they waive any sanctions that let enemies of our country utilize our financial system.
As the world watches Iran protestors being attacked by the regime's security forces and Russia's unjust invasion of Ukraine, we need to ensure the Executive Branch's foreign policy actions align with Congress and the goals of the American people. Sanctions are a critical tool in our toolkit and we need to keep them viable.
I spoke on the House Floor about my legislation. Watch below.

Veteran of the Year Nominations Closing Soon
Nominations for the 2022 Veteran of the Year will be closing on October 3rd. Each year I am honored to recognize a veteran who has served our country and continues to serve our community. It is a great opportunity to highlight the service and commitment of an unsung hero in our state.
We need your help to honor a veteran who continues to selflessly devote their time to others. If you know a veteran deserving of this award in our community, visit my website for information.
2022 Congressional App Challenge
Registration for the 2022 Congressional App Challenge is now open. If you have a child or grandchild in middle or high school residing in Wisconsin's First District, they can apply. Last year, two students from Greendale High School won the App Challenge for their app, Robauto.
Creating an app takes time, hard work, patience, skills, and planning. This challenge is a great way to promote STEM programs to teach our students problem solving skills, and encourage critical thinking and innovation.
To learn more about the App Challenge, visit my website. As always, if my office can be helpful for you, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
On Wisconsin,
Bryan G. Steil Member of Congress
