Senator Ted Cruz and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said they
would work together on a bipartisan bill to stop members of Congress from
leaving office to immediately take lucrative lobbying jobs.

But we're not satisfied with talk: we want follow-through. We sent
hundreds of targeted tweets and flooded their offices with thousands of
emails demanding action – and it worked! Ted Cruz's office responded to
set up a meeting with RepresentUs members to talk about the bill.

This Wednesday, RepresentUs members in Austin will meet at Senator Cruz's
office and hand-deliver our petition urging the Senator to keep his
promise and work across the aisle to close the revolving door.

Right now, lobbyists and special interests routinely offer politicians
high-paying lobbying jobs in exchange for political influence. Politicians
go straight from passing laws to lucrative lobbying jobs, where they get
paid to influence their former colleagues.

In May, Senator Ted Cruz and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez both
tweeted that they would work together to stop the revolving door with a
lifetime ban.

We've all seen politicians make promises to fix corruption, get the
positive response they want, and then do nothing. That's why when
RepresentUs members saw the exchange, they amped up the pressure by
tweeting and emailing Cruz and AOC to follow through. The pressure
campaign from RepresentUs members was so impactful that Senator Cruz's
office scheduled a meeting to hear us out.

Represent Austin chapter leaders are going to hand-deliver every single
signature and show Senator Cruz that Americans are sick of the corrupt
status quo.
