Dear Friends,
Mecklenburg County and Charlotte, as well as much of the Carolinas, are currently under a tropical storm warning and a flood watch due to the powerful Hurricane Ian. Governor Roy Cooper has declared a state of emergency, and most Charlotte-area students are attending school remotely today.
We could potentially see devastating wind gusts. Because of these strong winds, you should bring inside anything that can potentially blow away, including lawn furniture, yard signs, and Halloween decorations. There is potential for downed trees, power outages and other wind related damage.
Please shelter in place and avoid unnecessary travel while severe weather conditions persist.
Our office put together this page of Hurricane Ian resources for your convenience.
Please remember to call 9-1-1 first in the case of an emergency (for example, a downed tree in the road), but to use 3-1-1 instead for non-life threatening emergencies (for example, a downed branch in your yard).
Please monitor local news outlets for updated information and look out for yourselves and your neighbors.
Be safe!
