Dear John,
For many years, EIA has played a crucial role in the fight against plastic pollution. Will you help us now as we take our campaign a vital step further?
In Kenya earlier this year, EIA campaigners attended a meeting of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA), the world’s principal decision-making body on the environment.
During long and arduous negotiations, the EIA team shared our expertise and campaigned for a global treaty to combat plastic pollution.
A historic moment
When the assembly agreed to go ahead with the treaty, the feeling in the room was electric. Many of the people who’d been campaigning with us burst into tears. In environmental policymaking, wins like this are few and far between, and hard fought.
A deal that delivers for the planet
The world’s governments now have until the end of 2024 to decide on the final details of the treaty. The first of five rounds of negotiations will take place in Uruguay this November. The EIA team will be there.
Please donate today to help us negotiate a strong global plastics treaty and continue to tackle other serious threats to wildlife and our natural world.
