John, in the last year, there has been a rise in antisemitism not just in our communities but across the world. Shockingly, even the U.S. Department of State has been tarnished by incidents of antisemitism. In the U.S. Embassy in Bulgaria, a swastika was painted in a secure area. In the halls of the Washington D.C. State Department headquarters, a swastika was carved into an elevator wall. A high-level official has been running a hate-filled, antisemitic propaganda website.
As the cornerstone of our nation’s representation abroad, the Department of State must take steps to stamp out hate among its ranks.
The House Bipartisan Taskforce for Combating Antisemitism is circulating a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken demanding action to address these incidents and to ensure the State Department has no tolerance for antisemitism or any form of hate.
Please use ADL’s outreach tool to quickly send an email to your U.S. Representative to urge them to sign on to the Taskforce’s letter now. It will just take a moment to send this important bipartisan message about antisemitism.
Sincerely, |

P.S. Please join me on Monday for an important online event hosted by ADL and the McCain Institute at Arizona State University, “Protecting American Democracy: Working Together to Counter Hate and Extremism” where I will be in conversation with top federal officials, state officials and civil society leaders about how we can stand up to the perilous threats facing our democracy. I would be so grateful if you could join this bipartisan discussion, which is free to attend.
