Porkers of the Month Push Inflationary Policies |
CAGW named Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) August Porker of the Month for being the key vote to pass the so-called Inflation Reduction Act and Rep. Richard Neal (D-Mass.) September Porker of the Month for stating he wants to raise taxes if Democrats retain the majority in the House of Representatives. With inflation at the highest it has been in decades and the economy already in a recession, there could not be a worse time to promote policies that will continue to be costly to taxpayers.

August Porker of the Month
|
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) lied about not raising taxes during a recession by creating the “Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).”
In 2010, Sen. Manchin said, “I don’t think during a time of recession you mess with any of the taxes or increase any taxes.” Sen. Manchin says he made the agreement because there are no tax increases, just the closing of loopholes. Like many other members of Congress, Sen. Manchin has trouble with the truth and math.

September Porker of the Month |
Rep. Richard Neal (D-Mass.) wants to raise taxes and bankrupt America. The Inflation Reduction Act raises taxes by $740 billion, impacting Americans in every income bracket. It will also increase spending, deepen the recession, and prolong the worst inflation in 40 years. Yet Rep. Neal wants to increase taxes even more if Democrats keep control of the House.

CCAGW Releases 2021 Congressional Ratings |
Since 1989, the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) has examined roll call votes to help identify which members of Congress have defended taxpayer interests and which have backed away from their promises of fiscal responsibility. The Congressional Ratings separate the praiseworthy from the profligate by evaluating important tax, spending, transparency, and accountability measures. CCAGW applauds those members of Congress who stand up for taxpayers and ignore the temptation of satisfying local and special interests. However, those who support a big-government agenda should be prepared to face the consequences of their spendthrift behavior.

CAGW Releases “All About Earmarks: A Brief History” |
CAGW has released “All About Earmarks: A Brief History.” The report tracks the history of earmarks, which are the most corrupt, costly, and inequitable practice in the history of Congress, from early opposition by the Founding Fathers through to the present.
