From the savannas of Africa to the coral reefs of the Caribbean, we believe in the power of partnerships to create real, lasting protection for endangered wildlife.
In 2011, The Bahamas outlawed commercial shark fishing in its national waters, signaling a strong commitment to ocean conservation. Despite this, illegal fishing and poaching still pose serious threats to wildlife. This year, we teamed up with the Bahamian government and The Nature Conservancy to develop a complete Marine Protection System responsive to local needs.
Through training and mentorship, we empower our in-country partners to strengthen marine enforcement, prevent illegal fishing, and close gaps in the legal system so that coral reefs, fisheries, and the communities that depend on them can thrive.
