any of the research reports on our website, you’re probably familiar with some of my work.
I’m writing to you because we just dropped a new piece highlighting how briefs submitted to the Supreme Court ahead of its
Dobbs decision repeatedly predicted the harms that would be inflicted if the Court overturned
Roe.
Will you read and share this with your network to make sure everyone knows just how far these right-wing politicians in robes are willing to go to enact their agenda?
We’ve laid out 14 specific instances where experts warned the Court and provided evidence of the devastation the justices would unleash on pregnant people and abortion providers if the right to abortion was no longer protected. These 14 warnings have already become a reality for many Americans within months of the Court’s devastating and harmful decision in Dobbs.
Samuel Alito dared to write in the Dobbs decision, “We do not pretend to know how our political system or society will respond to today’s decision overruling Roe and Casey.”
It was obviously a lie then, but this shows just how egregious of a lie it was.
The right-wing justices knew exactly what would happen if they overturned the constitutional right to abortion, and they did it anyway. To them, hurting millions of pregnant people is not only justified, it is a victory.
This Court is not working to serve the American people. It has been hijacked by right-wing extremists and it’s clear that they will stop at nothing to enact their agenda.
There is only one solution that meets the urgency of this moment. The path to restoring our right to abortion care and stopping the Court’s assault on women, trans, and nonbinary people is clear: we must expand the Court.
Court watchers are already gearing up for a new Supreme Court term — but we cannot let the media or our elected leaders forget the earth-shattering term we just had.
