John, This is an unprecedented period for our democracy. Free Speech For People has been an innovator in the movement for a democracy of, by, and for the people. We have launched pathbreaking new initiatives to challenge big money in politics, unchecked corporate power, and corruption in government: - We were the first to launch a campaign to challenge Citizens United: Founded on the day the Supreme Court ruled in Citizens United v. FEC in 2010, Free Speech For People has been at the forefront of the movement to amend the Constitution to reverse the Supreme Court’s decision and we support a broad set of constitutional amendments to ensure that all Americans have an equal vote and equal opportunity to participate in our elections.
- We were the first to apply section 3 of the 14th Amendment to hold insurrectionists like Donald Trump and his allies accountable for their role in the January 6th: In 2021, we launched a campaign urging Secretaries of State and election officials nationwide to bar insurrectionists who had violated their oath of office from appearing on any future ballot under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment, also known as the Insurrectionist Disqualification Clause. Since then, we have scored significant court victories that create critical precedent for applying the Insurrectionist Disqualification Clause to Donald Trump, the insurrectionist-in-chief, should he decide to run for president again.
- We were the first to pass local laws to get foreign-influenced corporate spending out of our elections: Free Speech For People researched, drafted, and fought for legislation on all levels of government to eliminate foreign interference in our elections through multinational corporations. We have helped to successfully pass policies to this end in St. Petersburg, Florida and Seattle, Washington. Several states, as well as Congressman Jamie Raskin, have since introduced bills based on our model.
- We were the first to call for Donald Trump’s impeachment: Immediately following former President Trump’s presidential inauguration in January 2017, we co-launched a campaign calling for an impeachment investigation based on his direct and serious violations of the Foreign and Domestic Emoluments Clauses of the Constitution upon taking the oath of office. Following the launch of this campaign, we repeatedly expanded it as the president committed further abuses of power and the public trust, including the high crimes he committed in connection with the Ukraine scandal and his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

We will keep fighting to challenge big money in politics, which floods our elections like never before, drowning out the voices of voters.
