MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES ARRIVING IN NYC NEED US


Asalam'alaykum ("Greetings of Peace") friends and supporters. My name is Maryam Khaldi and I am a Program Coordinator at MCN who implements MCN's humanitarian projects. I write to you with an appeal on this blessed Friday.

As many of you know, migrants from Texas have been arriving to NYC with little to no clothing on their back, no shoes, no undergarments, and no essential items. There are now almost 15,000 asylum seekers that have arrived at Port Authority in buses, many of whom are Muslim men, women, and even children. In consultation with activists and organizations who are directly responding to the crisis, we have created an Amazon Wishlist that includes essential items, undergarments, winter coats, shoes, prayer mats, and other essential items, as these have been requested and are severely lacking.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said “Whoever relieves a Muslim of a burden from the burdens of the world, Allah will relieve him of a burden from the burdens on the Day of Judgement. And whoever helps ease a difficulty in the world, Allah will grant him ease from a difficulty in the world and in the Hereafter. And whoever covers (the faults of) a Muslim, Allah will cover (his faults) for him in the world and the Hereafter. And Allah is engaged in helping the worshipper as long as the worshipper is engaged in helping his brother." (Narrated by Abu Hurairah, Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1930, Book 27, Hadith 36).
