Our end-of-quarter fundraising deadline expires at midnight, and I’ll get to that in just a minute, but first, I want to take a moment to reflect on the last week.

Last Friday, the Pima County Superior Court ruled to uphold a draconian 1901 law that allows a total abortion ban to take effect in Arizona.

This law outlaws abortion with no exceptions for rape or incest. It’s cruel and it threatens the lives of women across our state. The law also mandates jail time for abortion providers, so doctors and nurses will now be forced to think twice and call their lawyer before providing patients with oftentimes necessary, lifesaving care.

This law is an assault on our freedoms — and my far-right opponent, Kari Lake, doubled down on her support for it.

We don’t have to guess what kind of future Kari envisions for Arizona — she’s showing us — it’s one where an entire generation of Arizonans doesn't control their own health care. We deserve better.

As both a mother and an elected official, I refuse to stand by and do nothing as my daughter and so many young Arizona women now have fewer rights in 2022 than I did 50 years ago. As Arizona’s next governor, I will never risk women’s fundamental freedom to make our own health care decisions. If any legislation that restricts the right to choose comes to my desk, I will use my veto pen to block it.

That’s the type of leadership Arizonans deserve. But with polls showing our race in a statistical tie, I am counting on your support as we work to reach voters across the state. Arizonans’ freedoms depend on the outcome of this race.
