From tomorrow (1 October), millions of domestic energy customers will start to receive money off their bills this winter under the Energy Bills Support Scheme.
The £400 energy bills discount will be applied automatically to customers' bills and will be spread across the period October-March. All households with a domestic electricity connection in England are eligible for this discount, so there is nothing customers need to do in order to receive it.
If you haven't received the discount or think there is a problem with your bills, I would encourage you to speak to your energy provider in the first instance. As ever, if you require further assistance then please get in touch with me at the details below.
Earlier this year, I kickstarted a new campaign calling for Zone 6 to cover all our local stations. This follows an earlier petition in 2016 calling for the extension to Esher, Walton and Hersham stations that I supported as MP.
Over 1,500 of you have now signed my latest petition for better local rail services to date.
There is still time to add your voice to the campaign. If you commute for work or leisure and would like to see local services improved, please back the campaign for Zone 6 below.

Joseph Clifton brings home gold
Earlier in the year, I visited Abel Karate with the then Sports Minister, Nigel Huddleston, to catch up with Karate student Joseph Clifton and Sensei Paul Abel. Joseph was hoping to make it into the England squad for the Birmingham Commonwealth championships.
This month, Joseph won two gold medals in the Para category at the 10th Commonwealth Karate Championships, which took place in Birmingham this September 2022. A phenomenal achievement - well done Joseph and Paul!
Exporting Success
In September, I visited award-winning, local business Creative Nature with Trade Minister Conor Burns to hear from founder Julianne Ponan about her company’s plans for growth.
Creative Nature develops an exclusive line of snacks, baking mixes and superfoods - all of which are ‘Top 14 Allergen free’ and Vegan.
Julianne - an allergy sufferer herself - and her business partner, Matt, started selling their products on the streets of Kingston.
Creative Nature is now a multi-award winning small business, with products sold across major UK supermarkets, on airlines, and in over 16 countries and counting.
Age UK opens in Esher
I dropped into Age UK on Esher High Street (the corner where Lloyd’s Bank used to be) this week following their grand opening in August. The Esher branch is the second Age UK shop to open following the success of their first store in Haslemere.
You can help support Age UK’s work by donating items to their Esher branch. They accept all good-quality donations, except children’s items, CDs, DVDs, and electricals at this time. My thanks to Laly Cassidy for taking the time to show me around the new shop.
