Meet the Grant Recipient for Film Independent and the MPAC® Hollywood Bureau’s latest collaboration

Dear John,

We will always be grateful to the Film Independent team for supporting our work in the entertainment industry for over a decade. Our latest collaboration with the nonprofit arts organization is a Writing Fellowship Grant, which sought a promising writer who could elevate stories by and about Muslims to nurture their artistic development. We found that compelling voice in metro Detroit-raised Sarah Mokh, who will receive the $10,000 grant. She is a promising talent to watch and it is our great honor to introduce you to her work.

Along with seven up-and-coming screenwriters, Sarah will work and learn from experienced industry veterans - show-runners, executives, and creative producers. This episodic lab will conclude with a final pitch event to studios and producers.

We look forward to continue supporting Muslim screenwriters in changing narratives in the entertainment industry. Stay tuned for information on our next fellowship with Film Independent.

In peace,

Sue Obeidi
