In response to stagnating wages, poor working conditions, and a harrowing two years of health-related work concerns, workers across the country are increasingly exercising their right to organize unions. The publicity around these organizing drives has also exposed the failures of our federal labor law, which allows companies to intimidate, harass, and fire employees with impunity for exercising their rights.
This fact sheet summarizes some of the pervasive tactics employers use to deter unionizing efforts and examines how provisions in the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act can strengthen labor law and provide greater protections for workers.

Historic 2021 Decline in Child Poverty Proves Effectiveness of Federal Investments |
The release of 2021 poverty and health insurance coverage data from the U.S. Census Bureau demonstrates how government action in response to the pandemic stabilized households, uplifted millions of people from poverty, and brought uninsurance rates to historic lows. However, many of these provisions were temporary and have now expired, although the need for them has not gone away.
These data reinforce the urgency of permanently filling the gaps in existing programs and expanding public investment to address unmet areas of need to promote economic security and strengthen our economy overall.

Concessions Workers at Dodger Stadium Can Also Throw Strikes
This year’s MLB All-Star Week was a significant event in American sports, but the lead up to the game proved more urgent for the labor movement and workers’ rights. In advance of the event, over 1500 concessions workers at Dodger Stadium voted to authorize a strike.
This blog argues that strikes and similar actions are fundamental to increase worker power and address the economic exploitation of vulnerable workers, underscoring the need for the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act.
