Using Data to Help Build a More Equitable Society

Closing the racial wealth divide in America is critical — but it can't be done without better and easier access to reliable data about economic well-being and progress by race. To empower individuals and organizations working to build a more equitable economy and society, Bloomberg Philanthropies' Greenwood Initiative launched the Black Wealth Data Center, featuring the Racial Wealth Equity Database. Watch the launch video and listen to our recent Follow the Data Podcast to learn more about this important new tool.

A strong push and global coordination could save 50 million lives by 2030.

Connecting Communities with Public Art

Aspen Ideas Festival Panel

Amsterdam's Nieuw-West neighborhood had "a reputation as 'the don't go to' area," said Anna Stolyarova from the Street Art Museum Amsterdam. But through our Asphalt Art project and the work of local partners, it's been transformed from a drab, uninviting public area into a welcoming, colorful space. "This Asphalt Art project can really help bring people together," said Deputy Mayor Touria Meliani. "Connection is very important in art and that's what it does here." Watch the video to see the before-and-after revitalization take place.

Mike and Oscar the Grouch

"I think we all know that Oscar the Grouch loves trash. But today at the Earthshot Innovation Summit, I think I convinced him why it's so important to build a waste-free world," wrote Mike on Twitter.
