MIDTERM ELECTIONS

2022 Midterm Elections

The 2022 midterm primary elections wrapped up this month with the last four
primaries in [1]Delaware, [2]Massachusetts, [3]New Hampshire, and [4]Rhode
Island. Click each state to see its primary election results. Once on the
state you would like to view, use the drop-down menus to filter through the
various offices that were on the ballot.

Candidate Lists

All fifty states and the District of Columbia have released lists of
candidates who will appear on the ballots for the 2022 midterms. See who is

VOTES

Invest to Protect Act of 2022

On September 22, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Invest to
Protect Act of 2022, which will direct the Office of Community Oriented
Policing Services within the Department of Justice to award grants to local
governments that employ fewer than 200 law enforcement officers for the
purchase of body cameras, de-escalation training, and to improve

Joint Consolidation Loan Separation Act

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Jount Consolidation Loan
Separation Act on September 21 to allow two borrowers, who previously
acquired a joint consolidation loan for their federal student loan debt, to
submit a joint application to the Department of Education to divide their

Whistleblower Protection Improvement Act of 2021

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Whistleblower Protection
Improvement Act of 2021 on September 15 to expand protections for federal
employees who keep the government accountable by sharing information about

STATEMENTS

British Leadership

On September 6, Liz Truss was appointed Prime Minister of the United
Kingdom by Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away two days later. The queen's
oldest son immediately ascended the throne as King Charles III after his
mother's death. President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden attended her
funeral on September 19 along with other world leaders. View their

Natural Disasters

Several natural disasters received national attention this month. Flooding
has affected Pakistan and contributed to the water crisis in Jackson,
Mississippi. Western states including California have been experiencing
wildfires and heat waves. Hurricane Fiona made landfall in Puerto Rico on
September 18, and Hurricane Ian hit Cuba and Florida this week. View

Inflation

Discussions about the level of inflation in the United States continued in

Fighting between Ukraine and Russia, which began in February, continued
this month as they battle for territory. On September 22, the United
