Axios: Florida power outages from Hurricane Ian top 2.6 million

Ian unleashed widespread life-threatening storm surge flooding after making landfall as a high-end Category 4 storm near Cayo Costa Wednesday afternoon. Officials in coastal communities were responding to multiple water rescues. In Port Charlotte, storm surge flooded a hospital emergency room, per AP.

Newsweek: Battle to Win the House Plays Out in 3 Key Border Districts in South Texas. The call featured Representative Mayra Flores, who won the special election to face Representative Vicente Gonzalez in the 34th Congressional District; Monica De La Cruz, facing Michelle Vallejo in the 15th; and Cassy Garcia, looking to defeat longtime congressman Henry Cuellar in the 28th.

Jerusalem Post: Midterms Coming Up, Jewish Organizations Working to 'Get Out of the Vote'. On Wednesday, the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) Victory Fund announced a significant $450,000 independent expenditure, releasing TV ads targeting Democrat incumbent Rep. Matt Cartwright (PA-08). “All the polls suggest that the race is pretty much a dead heat, so it’s going to be one of those majority-making districts,” said Sam Markstein, RJC national political director.

NBC-DES MOINES:  Miller-Meeks and Bohannan Debate in Race for 1st Congressional District The debate ended with this question about what the first bill voted on should be if their respective political party held the majority in the House next year. “To get rid of 87,000 new IRS agents,” responded Miller-Meeks.
