Dear John,

Tibetans have cared for the Tibetan plateau for millennia, but under Chinese
control, it’s crumbling. China’s latest infrastructural developments are displacing Tibetan people and
ravaging one of the least-disturbed habitats on earth.

The Tibetan plateau—often called the “Third Pole”—plays a crucial role in global
water supply and climate regulation. But through the Chinese government’s
reckless policies, they are not only plundering precious resources but accelerating the global climate crisis.

John, as an ICT supporter you are needed to help
protect the future of Tibet’s ecosystem—and our planet—by supporting efforts to
empower and involve Tibetans in decisions about sustainable development in their
region.

Donate now to ICT’s matching gift challenge, and your gift will do twice the
work to expose China’s environmental destruction.

At this very moment, China is building rail routes, dams and hydropower projects
that are on track to cause irreversible damage—all while marginalizing the
Tibetan people who have farmed and cared for the land for centuries.

The world is already seeing and feeling the effects. The plateau is warming over twice as quickly
as the rest of the planet, and
access is so restricted that environmental researchers can’t get the essential
information they need.

The frequency and intensity of rainfall events is expected to increase
dramatically, leading to more frequent and severe flooding. And if carbon
emissions aren’t cut, up to two-thirds of the glaciers in the region will be
gone by 2100.

But your gift helps raise awareness of this critical issue—as we recently did at
the COP25 Summit in Madrid—and supports empowerment of Tibetans to make
decisions about their home.

Amplify Tibetan voices with a gift today that will help us in our effort to
support the people of Tibet as they fight to protect their environment… before
it’s too late.

P.S. When it comes to environmental destruction, there are no second chances.

Pole. Your gift will have TWICE the impact.
