John -
Tonight at midnight is our End of Fiscal Year fundraising deadline, and
hitting our goal is crucial for our work to win the fight for a livable
climate. I'll explain why shortly, but first I want to give you an update
on our progress:

We're just $21,500 away from hitting our ambitious $150,000 goal — that's
incredible, John!
And I'm hopeful that we'll get there
before midnight, but in order to do so, we need your help:

$3.50
right now to help us hit our $150,000 goal before midnight?
Why is it so important that we hit this goal? Let me explain:
First, the technical stuff: 350.org's budget and planning are based on the
fiscal year — October to September — rather than the calendar year. And
with midnight tonight marking the end of this fiscal year, we MUST hit our
fundraising goal in order to have the budget we need to run the incredible
campaigns we've planned for the year ahead.
But that's not all, John.
The fossil fuel industry is wreaking havoc on our planet and our
communities:
They are drilling and fracking in beautiful places, effectively ruining
the ecosystems.
Their drilling operations are polluting the air and drinking water for
millions of people all over the world.
They are behind the plastic industry which kills wildlife and poisons the
food chain.
They have lied about their effect on the climate, the planet, and
communities for decades, not just delaying a response to their climate
crimes but also doing everything they can to block such a response.
And the totality of their destructive practices has created a climate
which is worsening every day, ruining lives and livelihoods, and bringing
us closer and closer to a future no one wants.
THAT is why this matters.
I'm not saying we'll be able to solve the climate crisis and put an end to
the era of fossil fuels within the next fiscal year. But what I am saying
is that this is no time to slow down our efforts.
This is the time to ramp up all our campaigns and all our organizing to
stop the flow of money towards the fossil fuel industry. This is the time
to fight as hard as we possibly can. And we can't do that if we don't hit
our fundraising goal tonight. So that is why I'm asking:

Together, we can achieve a better future for all.
Onwards,
May Boeve
