This is very true for marijuana laws. More than 91% of U.S. adults say that marijuana should be legal for recreational or medical use. And Congress is finally listening.
The Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act (CAOA) just became the first major marijuana policy reform bill in the U.S. Senate. We helped pass the MORE Act in the House. CAOA builds on it. CAOA would de-schedule marijuana. It would also begin to repair the damage caused by prohibition.
This is the closest we’ve been to ending the federal prohibition on marijuana. CAOA is gaining support. But we are still facing resistance from Senate Republicans. It is going to take everything to make federal marijuana reform happen.
