We're back John!
*************************

It's been a hot minute, but welcome back to Jacqui's Journal!
Hope you didn't eat too many Dagwood dogs while we were gone (we
know Dutton did...).

Here you'll find updates about what Jacqui and Tammy are up
to, the issues they're fighting for and what they're doing in
Parliament.

I can't make change without you
*******************************

Hey John, it’s been a while! From the bottom of my
heart, thank you for all your support at the last election. We
had people walk hundreds of kilometres letterboxing, spend hours
at pre-polling, sign waving at roundabouts, and a lot of you
chipped in to help the cause. And it all paid off.

I can’t tell you how great it feels to have Tammy up in the
Senate with me. She’s already having wins, and she’s going to be
one hell of a Senator. I promise we’ll cause a bit of mischief as
well.

I need your help getting the word out. The Parliament will vote
soon on whether to extend domestic violence leave to thousands
more workers.

But to get it, you have to tell your boss what you’re going
through. And your boss can demand evidence. Not everyone who
wants to take this leave can tell their boss or wants to tell
their boss what’s going on. I’ve had survivors email me to say
that this just doesn’t work.

Three months old
****************

Can you believe I'm a three-month-old Senator now?! It all feels
a bit exciting and terrifying all at the same time. But I’m here
because of you guys, and I’m going to give this my best shot. I
said the same thing in my first speech a few weeks ago - I'll
give you everything I have. If you haven’t checked out my first
speech yet, you can watch it here

.

This week I had my very first win in the Senate. Remember the
Future Leaders Fund from a few weeks ago? The former Coalition
Government gave the Governor-General $18 million to set up this
fund. It had no website, no staff, and no details. But they
handed over the money anyway. The whole thing was just weird. But
I've stopped this from happening again.

We need your help
*****************

The election is over, but the fight doesn't stop. We don't take
donations from the big boys. We're fighting off the other
parties, and need some help in our corner.

If you can chip in a few bucks
( [link removed] ), it'll help us take
the fight to them.

DONATE → ( [link removed] )There’s only
one way we win big fights — and that is together. You've got our
backs, and we'll have yours in the Senate.

Morning after a late sitting

This week the Senate sat until 11:30pm one night to pass a bill.
The next morning was a bit hard on Tammy - she's not a spring
chicken anymore! Click on the post to see how she got through the
morning.
