Asian clams confirmed in Glendo Reservoir

Game and Fish has verified the presence of Asian clams, an aquatic invasive species, in Glendo Reservoir. Game and Fish confirmed the discovery in early September. Asian clams have been found in Wyoming before, identified in nearby Guernsey Reservoir in 2019 and the North Platte River in 2014. **Much like zebra and quagga mussels, the Asian clam can clog pipes at power generation water supply facilities, causing millions of dollars in damage. Game and Fish samples Lake Hattie to get a better understanding of fish population

While the sheer numbers of large fish at Hattie this year may be down a bit, depending on who you talk to, the coming years look promising. Back in late June, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department conducted its annual sampling of Lake Hattie outside of Laramie, the purpose of which is to get updated data on how the fishery is doing, whether any age classes are struggling to grow, and basically get an idea of how the fishery will perform in the coming years.
