Earlier today, our team had a noon meeting about our end-of-quarter fundraising goal.

When we set our goal, we didn’t expect to learn that our extremist, far-right opponent Scott Jensen would outraise our campaign for the first time. But yesterday’s news only makes this goal even more important.

As the campaign manager for Governor Walz and Lt. Governor Flanagan, I'm proud of the campaign that we’ve built–and we’re grateful for the amount of support we’ve received. But this race is close and we’re at the most important point of this election to date. We can’t let Scott Jensen gain a massive advantage right now.

I just got off the phone with Berrett, my campaign finance director. He gave me an update on our end-of-quarter fundraising numbers. I’ll share it with you in a moment, but first, I need to emphasize why tomorrow night’s deadline is so important. 

Even before Republicans pledged to spend nearly $1 million in attack ads against me in September alone, we were already in one of the country's most competitive governor’s races.

The most recent public polling in our race showed Scott Jensen in a statistical dead heat with me, and my chances of winning reelection have been downgraded by election analysts three times in a row. 

If that’s not enough, we also learned yesterday that Jensen and Birk outraised our campaign during the last public reporting period for the first time EVER.

To put a fine point on it, this is a very close race. An election-denying, anti-vax misinformation peddling, anti-choice extremist will be the next Governor of Minnesota if we don’t put everything we have into the next six weeks.

As of a few minutes ago, we were still $38,983 short of our end-of-quarter budget target. With one day to go, I need your help, John. Can you rush a donation that works for you by 11:59 pm to help us close the gap and win this race?
