Dear Neighbor,
That’s a wrap on summer! As we head into fall, I’d like to share some updates on how I’ve served you and your family these past few months:
I’m putting people over politics, working to lower costs and secure affordable, high-quality health care for millions of Americans.
From my first day in Congress, I pledged to be transparent and accountable to the people of Illinois’ 14th. To that end, I crisscrossed our District this summer to meet with my constituents during my summer town hall series.
Thanks to everyone who attended!
At our town halls, I heard from members of our community about how high prices are affecting them and putting a strain on their budgets. I take their concerns seriously, and I’m focused on doing everything I can to lower costs and provide relief to families.
I voted to pass the CHIPS and Science Act, which would increase domestic manufacturing for semiconductors (which help our everyday electronics work)! I visited NHanced Semiconductors, Burgess-Norton Manufacturing Company, and Northern Illinois University to learn about the challenges we’re facing that are caused by semiconductor shortages. The CHIPS and Science Act is now law, and it will drive down prices of goods like cars and appliances while increasing domestic manufacturing and creating good-paying jobs.
I visited Burgess-Norton Manufacturing Company in Geneva to share updates on legislation that would ease supply chains and boost chip production
I know families are struggling with the high cost of health care, too. That’s why I was proud to see health care savings based on my Health Care Affordability Act signed into law as part of the Inflation Reduction Act. My legislation makes tax credits for Health Insurance Marketplace plans more generous and available to more Americans, and the Inflation Reduction Act extends these cost savings through 2025.

Meet Audree, a member of our community, whose life was changed by my legislation |
It was a busy summer, full of community events and meetings with constituents here at home, and we’ve proved that when we put people over politics, we can accomplish so much.
Sincerely,
|
