It was a busy weekend of litter cleanups. Three diverse groups set out to tackle litter on Kitsap's beaches and roads this past weekend. The Women's Club of Seabeck, Sinclair Inlet Beach Cleanup and the Bangor Marine Corps Security Force Battalion devoted time to giving back to the community in their unique ways.
Bangor Marine Corps Security Force Battalion
On Friday, 36 incredible Marines and sailors in the?Adopt a Spot program spanned out on rural Clear Creek Road to show their appreciation to the community.?
Group leader, Petty Officer 1st Class Luke Gray, has facilitated three large cleanup events this year. His battalion concentrates on high traffic, rural roads, Lake Flora and Clear Creek Road.?
This time, volunteers pulled 35 bags of litter out of the nearby brush, beyond the pavement. Litter had become lodged in the the Right of Way and was not as noticeable to drivers passing by, but what an improvement for the vegetation and wildlife!
Sinclair Inlet?
Saturday, Sinclair Inlet Cleanup group focused on litter along the shoreline. Groups met in two locations, Annapolis Dock and Lion's Field in Bremerton, to cleanup the litter that had accumulated along our water's edge.?Around 300 lbs. of debris was removed from the beach. Volunteers included City of Bremerton and South Kitsap High School staff, and community members.?The Clean Kitsap program?supplied volunteers with safety gear.

Women's Club of Seabeck
The Women's Club of Seabeck knows how to have fun together on their street sweeps. With 13 volunteers, they covered a five-mile stretch of road while enjoying time with one another. Cleaning up litter is just one great way these ladies connect with others in the community.?
The women of Seabeck have adopted the largest area in Seabeck to date. Covering nearly 11 miles of roadways, they break up the area to manage litter in different sections year-round.?
Great job men and women of Kitsap! How else can we thank our volunteers? Take a few simple steps to keep litter off the roads.?
