Jack, most of us remember the 2000 election of Bush v. Gore that came down to a recount in Florida and just 537 votes. I am pretty sure that I don't need to remind you of the last presidential election that came down to numerous recounts, audits, and investigations in states like Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, and Georgia.
These close elections are burned into our memory and the history books because they were for the president of the United States, the highest office in the land. However, there are so many more elections, up and down the ballot, that come down to just a handful of deciding votes. Many of these elected offices are important to protecting the future and strength of our democracy.
With the stark polarization of our political parties, and few truly undecided voters, more and more elections, especially in the upcoming midterm elections, will be decided by the slimmest of margins.
That's why Daily Kos is running one of our most robust Get Out the Vote campaigns ever. We are on track to recruit 75,000 volunteers who will contact millions of voters in key races—races that could be decided by the very voters Daily Kos volunteers mobilize to the polls.
We need to hit the ground running in October and not try to play catch up when it comes to our fundraising. We still need to raise $11,714 by the end of September. Can you help us close the books on September by donating $5 right now?
