| Funding our nonprofit mission |
EnviroVoters held an August fundraiser in Piedmont at the home of Clean Tech Party Co-Chair Steve Schiller, and featured David Hochschild, Chair of the California Energy Commission. Hochschild spoke on the Commission’s strategy to provide a clean, modern energy system for all Californians and announced that the state is adopting the nation’s most ambitious goal of 25GW in offshore wind by 2045. Our CEO Mary Creasman inspired the audience with her vision of a climate just future in California and moderated a Q&A with Hochschild. A committed crowd of environmental activists and clean energy advocates raised $13,500 for our nonprofit mission. Special thanks to Michael Colvin, Victoria Rome, Steve Schiller, Parin Shan, and Edward Smeloff for serving on the Host Committee.

California Environmental Voters, then called California League of Conservation Voters, was founded in 1972 when two groups of activists, from Los Angeles and San Francisco, were brought together by Marion Edey to combine their common efforts to elect environmental champions. Two years later, we released our first California Environmental Scorecard (then known as the Voting Chart) rating state legislators on their votes in 1973 and 1974. Stay tuned as we celebrate 50 years! |
