Hi John,
I’m so sorry you’re going through this.
Losing a spouse to suicide is a complex pain unlike any other. The loss leaves a particular void, a place where the enemy, and his lies, can trap us. There are too many what ifs. Too many should haves. Too many distortions to see clearly ahead.
It is possible to unravel the pain of suicide, but it takes time. It is a deep trauma which no well-wishes can wish away, or a single sermon fix.
This will sound cliché, but God’s with us in the middle of this. He is with you always, to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20). He knows what it takes to heal because He made us. He also made people who can provide tangible help in a time like this — and that’s why I’m emailing you.
We’ve produced a FREE series of short videos called “Your Spouse and Suicide” featuring Dr. Rita Schulte, LPC, certified grief counselor, suicide loss survivor, and author of Surviving Suicide Loss: Making Your Way Beyond the Ruins.
Rita recently joined us to share some powerful insights for suicide loss survivors, those who have a spouse with suicidal thoughts, and friends of a suicide loss survivor. Each video in this series also includes discussion questions and links to additional resources. I believe you’ll find it truly helpful.
The “Your Spouse and Suicide” video series is FREE, and you can sign up right now by clicking on the button below.
May God bless you and meet you with his peace and comfort during this painful time,
Dr. Greg Smalley
