Dear John,

As the seasons change, we’re finding ways to come together. Next week, we’re excited to be hosting our first in-person Comedy Night at Carolines on Broadway since 2020. Proceeds from the event will support the Ms. Foundation’s grantee partners who are leading the work to advance the rights and collective power of women, girls and nonbinary people in the U.S.

Even on the toughest days, history has shown us time and time again, all things are possible when you do them together. Yesterday, we marked International Safe Abortion Day, and acknowledged that this year, for the first time in nearly half a century, the United States could no longer guarantee the right to a safe abortion. Safe, legal abortions are possible when we strategize and look to one another for support and guidance.

In the words of the iconic bell hooks, “One of the most vital ways we sustain ourselves is by building communities of resistance, places where we know we are not alone.”

In solidarity,

Ruth McFarlane
Chief Advancement Officer

Ms. in the News

Earlier this month, President & CEO Teresa Younger represented the Ms. Foundation at Kering For Women’s first ever Caring For Women Dinner. Proceeds from the event benefited four organizations addressing gender-based violence, including the Ms. Foundation for Women. We're proud to be in the fight for gender equity with so many incredible partners.

“Being in this room where people are putting their money where their mouth is feels like real change,” said survivor advocate Kiesha Preston to Vogue. The event was also covered in WWD and Variety.

Grantee Spotlight: Women on the Rise

Women on the Rise was founded by formerly-incarcerated women in support of formerly-incarcerated women. The organization is doing important work on an individual and a state-wide level, from creating Welcome Home Packages for women returning from prison to co-leading the campaign to close Atlanta’s extra city jail.

“What we do is not a life sentence, but we end up serving time on the inside as well as the outside.” Learn more about Women on the Rise in our latest grantee partner spotlight!

Let’s Talk About Sex Conference

Members of the Ms. Foundation team headed to the 2022 Let's Talk About Sex National Reproductive Justice Conference in Dallas, TX. They had the chance to connect with and learn from movement leaders and grantee partners, including the Afiya Center, who hosted the conference, and conference organizers SisterSong

Following the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down Roe v. Wade, this conference was a vital opportunity to assess our new reality, deepen our work at the intersections, and vision for our future. See more photos from the conference HERE.
