Tomorrow is our final quarterly FEC deadline before the November election.
Please take a moment to chip in $5 or whatever you can ahead of this important deadline. Your donation helps us re-elect Chris and keep him in the U.S. Senate fighting for the people of Maryland and working to protect our democracy and elect Democrats here and across the country.
Twelve years ago, Chris was the first elected official to take action against the Supreme Court's disastrous 2010 Citizen United decision which opened the floodgates of secret dark money in our elections. As a member of the House of Representatives at that time, Chris successfully introduced and passed the DISCLOSE ACT — a bill to remove dark money from our politics.
Chris's legislation was stopped by Republicans in the Senate using the undemocratic filibuster rule. And since then they have continued to block the Disclose Act from all action — and even debate — as they did just last week when the Senate tried again to pass this critical legislation.
If we are ever going to make progress on getting secret, dark money out of our elections we MUST expand our Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate.
Now more than ever, massive amounts of secret money are being dumped into elections across our country enabling invisible big money special interests and mega rich billionaires to significantly influence election outcomes and determine who sits in Congress.
That's not right! And if unstopped this corrupting influence presents an existential threat to our system of government.
Thank you for your staying in this important fight.
Onwards!
