Every three months, candidates for federal office must file a report with the Federal Election Commission detailing how much they have raised and how many people have chipped in to their campaign. Shortly after, that report will be made public.
It’s all part of an effort to keep politicians honest about how their campaigns are funded — and I’m really proud about what our report says about this team.
It says that our team is powered by folks like you who chip in what you can, when you can. In fact, our average online donation this quarter is just $14.84.
But to be honest, this upcoming report is making me a little nervous too. You see, this report will detail our fundraising numbers from my first year and a half in the Senate. So when our report goes public, everyone — including Mitch McConnell — will comb through it looking for signs of weakness.
With a Senate seat up for grabs here in Colorado, I don’t want to give McConnell a reason to think our momentum in 2020 was just a fluke.
