There are only 62 days remaining until the start of our 4th Biennial Race and Power in America Summit: The Fight for the Future of Democracy! As a long-time organizer, I can tell you that numbers do matter, so I’ve pulled together a few that should encourage you to take action . . . to register and invest in Race and Power 2022.
36 – Registration for Race and Power closes on November 4—that’s just 36 days from today! Have you registered yet for this important event?
7 – Gamaliel launched its Long-Term Transformational Agenda at our 1st Race and Power in America Summit in 2015 (7 years ago) in Detroit. We declared together that we would build the Beloved Community by following 4 pathways: creating structural racial equity; building people’s control of government; building community control of the economy; and expanding the public sphere!
150 – This is our registration goal for Race and Power 2022 – 150 leaders, allies, and partners!
3 – We have confirmed three terrific keynote speakers for Race and Power 2022: Rev. Dr. Starsky Wilson, CEO, Children’s Defense Fund; Rev. Adam Taylor, President, Sojourners; and Randi Weingarten, President,
2000 – You can become a sponsor of Race and Power 2022 with a minimum investment of $2000.
100 – Gamaliel is officially launching the Race and Power Institute at this year’s Summit. You can become a Founders’ Club member with a minimum investment of $100.
125 – Our program booklet for the Summit will include ad pages. A business card sized ad costs $125. Quarter page, half page, and full page ads are also available. Affiliates receive a discount on half page and full page ads.
35 – Gamaliel was founded in 1968 to support the Contract Buyers League, an organization that fought to protect African-American home-owners in Chicago against discrimination by banks and savings and loan institutions. In 1986, Gamaliel was restructured as a community organizing leadership institute that trained community leaders to build and maintain powerful organizations in low-income communities. Last year marked 35 years of successful organizing, which we will be celebrating at Race and Power!
