I was born in Peoria, Illinois. Growing up, my parents taught me the value of family, community, and service to others. My grandpa, a union painter, and my grandma, a public school teacher, are the reason I’ve spent my entire career fighting for other hardworking people like them.
As a labor activist, I’ve fought for firefighters, grocery store workers, and meat packers, and I helped lead the charge to pass a $15 minimum wage in Illinois.
Illinois working families are struggling, and there’s still so much work to be done. That’s why I’m running – to take this fight to Congress and make sure their voices are heard. But, I can only get there if I have my grassroots supporters like you behind me.
