I’m Eric Sorensen — meteorologist and candidate for Illinois’ 17th Congressional District. And I’m here to give you a forecast for what’s to come in this year’s midterm elections.

This election is a turbulent one for climate progress. We’re only a handful of seats away from losing the House majority, and they’re already plotting to roll back the progress we’ve made. Progress to advance a clean energy future that everyone can get on board with. That’s why we need to do everything we can to keep a pro-environmental majority in Congress this November. Will you split an urgent contribution between SEEC PAC and my campaign so we can weather this storm?

Republicans want to keep making climate change a political issue, but it’s not.

Early in my career, I started talking about climate change with my viewers, even when it wasn’t very popular. Hearing from their “weatherman” how a changing climate was affecting their lives shifted the narrative and brought everyone from all walks of life into the fold.

And here in Central and Northwest Illinois, we know that climate change is real. We’ve witnessed long summer droughts, the destructive derecho storm of 2020, and the record-breaking Mississippi River flooding – all within the past three years. And every time disaster strikes, people in our community come together to help one another get through it.

That’s why talking about climate change shouldn’t be a partisan issue. As a meteorologist, it’s always been my job to speak the truth, and that’s exactly what I’ll do in Congress.

So I’m asking you to split a donation between my campaign and SEEC PAC before our last FEC deadline for the midterms so we can continue fighting for common-sense climate solutions in Congress.
