Hello

We wanted to thank everyone who came and participated in our first fall workshop on the Movement Breakthrough last week! If you were not able to make it, don't worry, we will be holding 2 additional FREE workshops coming this fall through the Ayni School exploring the subjects of Movement Ecology and Seasonality.

These introductory, 2 hour workshops will take place at different times throughout the months of October and November. You can read more about them and register for either (or both) of the remaining workshops using the following links:

The Movement Ecology Workshop

Coming next Thursday from 3 to 5 PM ET is the Movement Ecology Workshop. Movement Ecology is a framework to understand and analyze the 5 distinct strategies that arise when attempting to make social change.

While many of us have tried to create the conditions for social movements where there is collaboration across groups and organizations, we believe that collaboration can only happen when we are clear on the differences between the strategies that live in them. This means that we can only have ecological thinking/action in social change if we know what makes the parts of the movement different in relation to one another.

We call these multiple strategies Foundational Theories of Change and we believe that the key to power that many of us are working hard to harness is found in their collaboration.

Some of the common questions that come up when we’ve previously shared the framework and will be explored during this workshop are:
* Which Theory of Change do I spend most of my time working in?
* What is the role of each Theory of Change within the context of the larger movement?
* How can we relate and support other Foundational Theories of Change?
* How can we build a culture of interdependence and embrace multi-strategic movements?

If you want to delve deeper than the 2 hour introductory workshop next week, you can sign up for our Movement Ecology Fall 2022 online cohort taking place over 2 days, October 19th and 20th. The purpose of the Movement Ecology Training is to bring together new and experienced leaders and activists in Social Change who are looking to support their communities but may be feeling uncertain or stuck and in search of new ideas and strategies to bring their mission and organizations to the next level. This is a more in depth training and experience than the workshop where we get to go deeper into the concepts, examples, and practices. The deadline to enroll is September 30th. You can find more information on the Movement Ecology cohort here ([link removed]) .

Request a Workshop for Your Organization

If you are interested in bringing the Movement Ecology or Seasonality workshop to your group or organization and can't make the free workshop, we are also offering a limited amount of free individual group presentations through the end of the year. These workshops would be introductory 2 hour presentations specific for your organization. We ask that you have at least 10 people committed to the workshop if you would like to request one.
