John—
This is a really cool day at ❤️Fight. We’ve been quietly working for months, organizing authors to speak out for libraries’ digital rights, and over 300 have!
Now, we hope you can help. Would you amplify their voices?
If you’re on Twitter, retweet here: https://twitter.com/fightfortheftr/status/1575466695384535041
If you’re on other platforms, post the image I’m including below or share this link: http://fightforthefuture.org/authors-for-libraries
Over 300 authors including Neil Gaiman, Alok Menon, Chuck Wendig, Naomi Novik, Dr. Joan Donovan, Daniel Ellsberg, Medea Benjamin, Cory Doctorow, and Lawrence Lessig are calling out the horrendous behavior of major publishers when it comes to libraries. This is one of the first times that so many authors have used their power to speak out for change within their industry, and for the rights of libraries to own, loan, and preserve books no matter their format.
In our increasingly digital future, that right will be incredibly important for justice, access, and diverse voices.
If you’re an author, or you know one that should sign, signatures are still open at http://fightforthefuture.org/authors-for-libraries
So if you can, spread the word and support these rad authors in speaking out for libraries!
Because books are magic,
Lia and the team at ❤️Fight
