Hackers are breaching Amazon security devices, and we’re the only ones warning the public.

John

Eight-year-old Alyssa LeMay was alone in her bedroom when she heard a strange male voice harassing her with racial slurs. The voice was coming from the Amazon Ring security camera in her room. The stranger was a hacker who could not only speak to Alyssa through the camera—he could watch her every move.1

Alyssa's terrifying ordeal is a parent’s nightmare—but it's just one example of how Amazon’s Ring and Alexa devices are making us less safe and secure.

From identity thieves to child abusers, hackers are using Amazon Ring to threaten our homes and families. We need a full congressional investigation to document the threat and build support for policies that will protect families from Ring.

Will you donate to help launch the fight against Amazon Ring by making sure consumers know how dangerous and insecure this technology really is?

Amazon's Ring relies on cheap, insecure, internet-connected cameras while knowing full well about the dangers associated with these devices.

The list of horror stories is long and growing:

  • A family in Florida had their home invaded through their Ring cameras by hackers, who livestreamed the intrusion on a podcast.2
  • A woman in Georgia was harassed by hackers through a Ring camera she installed to keep an eye on her dog.3
  • A Texas couple was similarly hacked by a stranger who threatened to kill them if they didn't pay a Bitcoin ransom.4

But despite the growing mountain of evidence that Ring is unsafe and insecure, Amazon refuses to institute even the most basic protections, like requiring users to create strong passwords or use 2-factor authentication.

Meanwhile, Amazon's marketing team is using baseless claims about that Ring prevents crime to get police departments to recommend that people install these devices. That's why we need a congressional investigation to get the truth out there.5

We've organized tens of thousands of people and dozens of organizations to call for a congressional investigation into Amazon's abuses, and we need your help to keep up the pressure.

Will you donate to help demand a congressional investigation of Amazon Ring?

Thanks for all you do,

Evan at Fight for the Future
