John, a few weeks ago, Attorney General Eric Holder reached out with an urgent warning: Democracy is on the ballot this fall.
At the time, the NDRC had recently announced our strategy to combat Republican extremism and protect the future of free and fair elections by investing to elect 14 Democracy Defenders in battleground states across the country.
Since then, we’ve expanded our efforts — by a lot. We’re now working to elect more than 400 Democracy Defenders!
But supporting this many candidates is a HUGE undertaking, which means we’ll need a lot of resources to get it done. Our FINAL end-of-quarter fundraising deadline before Election Day is tomorrow night, and we’re looking for 14 grassroots donors from your area to pitch in to help us reach our goal.

Our democracy is under attack. And its fate will be determined in the 2022 elections.

In 2020, people from across the country came together to defeat Donald Trump and put an end to the corruption and authoritarianism that infected that administration. This election year is no less important.
In November, there will be Republican candidates on the ballot who perpetuate the Big Lie, who even participated in the January 6 coup attempt, and who view themselves as beholden to the extremes of their party instead of our Constitution and the will of the people. That is what we are up against this fall.
And that is why it’s essential that we push with everything we have, and nothing less. The NDRC is all-in; on top of announcing our slate of Democracy Defenders, we’re working in 17 states where key investments can make the difference between fair elections and minority rule, and so much more.
