Today, I joined the Connecticut Congressional Delegation "Commitment to America" press conference. My focus today was on the need to protect parental rights, education access and protecting families against the fentanyl crisis that has reached our communities. Jayme Stevenson on the Importance of Public Safety Support
While these common sense promises seem obvious to most Americans, we are in an unprecedented time of domestic and global instability, worsened by an ever-increasing amount of U.S. federal government overreach. People want government leaders who will uphold our basic rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Through this Commitment, Republicans have crafted a promising blueprint to preserve our freedoms, including the rights of parents to be the central decision makers in their children's education, to keep our country and communities safe, to revitalize our economy and to hold government lawmakers accountable by raising up your voice in Washington.

As your next Congresswoman for the 4th Congressional District, I’m all in!

Everyday on the campaign trail, I hear how many of the half million voters in the Fourth District are struggling. With 40-year high inflation and a 60% increase in gas prices, workers, families and small businesses are forced to make tough decisions every day.  During our #TEAMJAYME Diner Tour, we heard that wholesale egg prices have increased from $1/dz to $6/dz and of food product supply shortages. How can a small business survive when the prices of the most basic goods have increased SIX TIMES!  Business owners are doing all they can to stay in business while holding prices down… substituting menu items, opening for less hours and operating with a smaller staff.

Dem Senators blame business owners for their “greed” when they have to raise prices. I would like them or Jim Himes to come out in OUR Connecticut community and speak to business owners and the countless others I speak to everyday who actually understand how the economy works. Labor shortages, supply chain disruptions and higher energy costs translate into higher prices and fewer customers. There is a tipping point at which it doesn’t make sense to keep the doors open.

Our families are facing similar predicaments. We simply cannot afford another two years of out-of-touch, one-party rule and a Congressman who blindly follows his party leaders to the detriment of your family and mine. You deserve a representative who will stand up to party leaders when needed. You need an INDEPENDENT voice in Congress.

As a financial analyst and municipal CEO, I know that the trillions of dollars of government spending is the fuel for inflation. Himes supported every dollar of Biden and Pelosi’s reckless spending that has our economy and the financial markets in a tailspin. A real leader would have stood up against his party knowing how these policies would harm his constituents.

While Jim has been climbing his political ladder in D.C., I’ve been on the ground here in Connecticut with you. For 12 years, I had to make tough choices to balance our town’s budget to keep taxes as low as they could be. This required working closely with Democrats and leaders from across Fairfield County to get things done for the people we serve. I bucked my party when their policies didn’t make sense.

We hear every day on the campaign trail how voters are tired of partisan, political rhetoric. We need to speak plainly and honestly on what is happening in our country.

It is time to refocus and put the needs of our people before politics. It’s TIME to elect an experienced businesswoman, mother and community leader to Congress who knows the focus should be on the people of Connecticut, whom I will proudly serve in Washington.

Best regards,
Jayme Stevenson
