Republicans have rolled out our plan for the 118th Congress — our Commitment to America. This commitment contains Republican priorities to get our nation back on track by focusing on four key pillars: 

• Rekindling An Economy That's Strong
• Creating A Nation That's Safe
• Forging A Future That's Built on Freedom
• Establishing A Government That's Accountable

After 2 years of Democratic control of the White House and Congress, our nation is at a low point in our history, and the American people are the ones who feel it the most.  Nearly 9 in 10 Americans believe that our country is headed in the wrong direction — because we are paying for the policy choices of Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer. 

Rekindling An Economy That's Strong

If you've been to the grocery store, you've probably noticed the prices of almost all goods has increased significantly. Americans across the country are having to make hard budget decisions because the cost of just about everything has risen. When the current cost of goods is compared to the costs of goods in January 2021 — the month President Biden took office — the average cost of inflation for each household is over $700 a month. In other words, President Biden’s inflation is costing the average American household almost $8,000 a year. 

Republicans are committed to fighting President Biden's inflation crisis and lowering the cost of living. One of the ways we plan to lower the cost of living is by expanding American energy production to lower gas prices. Since day 1, President Biden has waged war against natural gas and oil companies, but much of our economy still relies on these resources to make and transport goods. The regulations Washington Democrats imposed on our energy companies have impacted domestic energy production and increased our reliance on foreign oil and gas, which has increased the cost of producing American goods and services. Those higher costs are passed on to the American people in the products we buy. Republicans want to make America energy independent again so we can rely on American oil to produce our own goods and bring down the costs associated with American made products. 

We also plan to help expand American manufacturing by reducing burdensome regulations and ending our reliance on China for the goods and products we need. Instead of addressing the supply chain crisis, Democrats in Washington prioritized social spending programs and tax increases to fund their agenda. 

Republicans will focus on improving the American economy, increasing American energy production, and expanding American businesses instead of spending your tax dollars on a liberal agenda. This is our Commitment to America.

Creating A Nation That's Safe

Under President Biden and Congressional Democrats, homicide rates across the country have increased roughly 50% compared to this time in 2019. This crisis often hits close to home in Mississippi as the murder rate in Jackson was the highest per capita in the nation last year. This is why nearly 60% of likely voters feel like President Biden is failing on the issue of crime. 

Republicans have a plan to address crime by reinforcing strong criminal justice policies, laying blame on the perpetrators of violent crime, and by securing the southern border. The soft-on-crime policies of the Left and their Defund the Police Movement have emboldened criminals and left our police officers without means to protect innocent citizens. Instead of Defunding the Police, Republicans will DEFEND the Police by providing them with the resources they need to perform their duties and return home safely. We will work to enact laws that put and keep violent criminals behind bars so they cannot continue their crime sprees. Finally, we will work to secure our southern border. 

August was the 18th straight month with more than 150,000 encounters on our southern border – a trend never before recorded. Comparatively in 2020, we saw just 50,000 encounters on our southern border. President Biden’s record is staggering — 3.6 million migrant encounters on the southwest border with over 900,000 "gotaways," or migrants who evaded U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents. Already this fiscal year, 78 people on a terrorist watch list have been encountered by CBP agents.

The border crisis is a direct result of the liberal policies enacted by the President and supported by Washington, D.C., Democrats. 

Border security is national security. Republicans secured the border and reduced crime under President Trump by supporting common-sense border policies. We've done it before, and we will do it again. This is our Commitment to America.

Forging A Future That's Built on Freedom

We've seen the Left try to instill propaganda in our schools  through the teaching of Critical Race Theory and silencing parents at school board meetings. Republicans want to give parents the freedom to choose how and what their children learn in schools. That's why I cosponsored the Parent's Bill of Rights so parents know exactly what is being taught in the classrooms and have a voice in what their children learn. We will also fight to protect women's sports for biological women under Title IX because every woman deserves fairness in sports. 

We will also fight to protect your freedom to choose the type of healthcare that works best for you. America is home to the best doctors and medical care in the world. Our doctors continue to innovate lifesaving treatments, but their efforts would be squandered under the top-down government approach to healthcare Democrats intend to impose. Their plan would lead to rationed care and worse service for patients. Under Democratic leadership, the life expectancy rate has already dropped two years straight. Republicans are committed to ensuring that healthcare programs are both affordable and effective, and that starts with giving the American people the right to choose their healthcare plan. 

Republicans will build a better future for Americans on a foundation of freedom, not Democratis control. This is our Commitment to America.

Establishing A Government That's Accountable

Democrats have sought to undermine the constitutional principle of one-person, one-vote by rejecting common sense changes that majorities of Americans support. Around 80% of Americans support voter ID laws, but Democrats have prioritized weakening the integrity of our elections by opposing common sense voter ID laws. 

Republicans will work to protect our elections and our government through common-sense election integrity legislation that will restore American faith in our elections. We will work to enact legislation that supports voter ID laws, accurate voter rolls, and election observer access. 

We also plan to conduct rigorous oversight of the Biden Administration. We have seen the Biden Administration ignore the will of the people to secure our border and use the Department of Justice (DOJ) as a tool against opponents of the Left, such as the raid on President Trump and the FBI's targeting of parents who spoke out against COVID-19 measures. We must get to the bottom of these actions, and in a Republican Congress, we will hold the Biden Administration accountable. 

Republicans will work to restore faith in our elections and hold the Biden Administration accountable for its actions that have taken America down the wrong path. This is our Commitment to America.
