*|FNAME|*, I've mentioned being the daughter of Guatemalan immigrants, but I never explained how that influences my vision for Illinois' future.
Like I said, my parents came to the US from Guatemala, and they worked day and night to give me and my siblings a better life than they had. I can’t imagine what would’ve happened to my siblings and me if we would’ve been separated from them. That's why I'm working hard to be a champion for immigrant families.
My family experienced housing instability. As the former board president of an affordable housing development organization and the Executive Director of a homeless services agency, I understand how important housing is to our community's development. That's why I'm advocating for affordable and community-centered developments to make it easier for our residents to find a home and keep it.
Delia Ramirez has dedicated her life and career to advocating for working families. She is an outstanding community leader with experience as CEO of community organizations and has created countless alliances in our communities. As the daughter of Guatemalan immigrants, Delia's values are rooted in effort and service to others.
