Sign the petition: Ron DeSantis must be investigated.
You read that right. Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis may have violated federal law by using over $600,000 in taxpayer dollars to lure 50 asylum seekers onto a flight that diverted them from Florida and sent them to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. That’s transporting human beings across state lines under false pretenses.
Lawmakers and experts think that DeSantis broke the law.1 Attorney General Merrick Garland and the Department of Justice cannot stand by and let this continue.
The asylum seekers DeSantis deceived were told they would be given housing and jobs. Instead, they were put on a plane with nothing but a brochure. When the plane landed, many asked “Where am I?”
DeSantis made a premeditated effort to target vulnerable people simply seeking a better life. If he broke the law, he needs to face justice. Sign on to call for the DoJ to start a federal investigation.
Among these asylum seekers were families and children.2 Now is the time to investigate Ron DeSantis for callously using people as pawns in his political agenda.
If we don’t stand up now, this will only get worse. What DeSantis did is not an isolated incident. Republicans like Texas Governor Greg Abbot are also cruelly sending migrant people across the country.
DeSantis needs to fear legal consequences. An investigation can help put a stop to the bigoted Republican anti-immigrant agenda. Add your name to demand full accountability for DeSantis.
Republicans want to divide us by demonizing immigrants, but no one is illegal on stolen land. Immigrants deserve to be welcomed and treated with dignity, love, and care.
