New Report From CLASP and Community Partnership Group: “A Community Driven Anti-Racist Vision for SNAP”
CPG Members Attend White House Conference on Hunger
CLASP today released a major report [[link removed]] providing detailed policy recommendations that form a new, anti-racist vision for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) . As the Biden-Harris Administration shares its vision to end hunger, the report underscores the importance of centering racial equity and partnering with individuals who have lived experience to shape public benefits programs.
CLASP co-authored the report in collaboration with the Community Partnership Group (CPG) [[link removed]] , a national group of activists who partner with nonprofits, administering agencies, and policymakers to bring the expertise of people directly impacted by poverty and/or anti-poverty programs to federal and state policymaking.

The CLASP report details a framework for reshaping SNAP, emphasizing that:
*
SNAP
must
be
available
to
all
of
those
who
need
it.
*
SNAP
benefits
must
be
sufficient
to
provide
healthy
meals
that
honor
varied
cultures.
*
Using
a
trauma-informed
lens
can
help
policymakers
meet
recipients’
needs.
*
Trust
and
respect
must
be
considered
during
the
application
and
renewal
process.
*
Policymakers
must
trust
that
recipients
can
make
the
best
choices
for
their
families.
*
Administrators
and
policymakers
should
use
strategies
that
provide
access
to
greater
opportunities
for
education,
better
jobs,
and
supportive
services.
*
Feedback
and
consultation
with
community
members
who
receive
SNAP
matters.
