Vermont remains the only state to yet to send a woman to Washington. But on August 9th, I made history by becoming the first woman and LGBTQ person to win the Democratic Nomination for Congress in my state – and I couldn’t have done it without the early support of David Cicilline.

As a mom and a former public school teacher, the far-right’s attempts to censor curriculum on civil rights and ban transgender children from participating in school sports is deeply disturbing .

Our best defense against these anti-LGBTQ efforts is a Democratic Majority in Congress that will defend marriage equality, stand for civil rights, and put an end to these cruel and senseless attacks against LGBTQ children and families.
